The stories of the birth of Krishna and his boyhood pranks are part of the lures we have heard and reheard with much interest. Some of these stories form part of the celebration of Gokulashtami or the day when everyone’s favourite blue god Krishna was born. Let’s look at how this festival is celebrated around the country through some stories.
I was totally into day out the whole day and could not celebrate it as such. As I also have daughter I was thinking that I will probably get Ayati dressed up when she becomes 2 years old because am sure she wont maintain the Krishna costume now

Ocular allergies might range from trivial allergy to big time allergy. In general, allergies are not curable. They are like common cold. You can only treat them to prevent excessive impact. They will automatically get cured by themselves. In similar lines, ocular allergies can be treated but there is no guarantee that you will get the relief. I do have ocular allergy. I am allergic to dust, pollen, etc. I can only get myself treated to save myself from itchiness and burning sensation. When you are allergic especially have eye allergies, just ensure that you consult a doctor before taking any drops. Most of the drops contain Steroids and prolonged use will lead to glaucoma. So you need to ensure that you consult an ophthalmologist before you treat your eye. It is better to prevent than feel sorry.

Sushil Kumar’s bronze medal is India’s second medal at the Beijing Olympics after Abhinav Bindra’s gold medal in the 10 m air rifle event. It is also India’s second medal in 66kg Freestyle Wrestling, the first being K D Jadhav’s bronze at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics.
Sushil Kumar had lost to Andriy Stadnik from Ukraine in the first round of the wrestling event. It is in the recharge round (a practice amongst ladder competitions that allows participants who failed to meet qualifying standards by a small margin to continue to the next round) that he beat American Doug Schwab and Belarusian Albert Batyrov. In the bronze medal match on 20 August, 2008 Sushil defeated Spiridonov 3:1.
We need many more such Olympic medals to keep us going. We have just opened the account and it is sure to grow with determination and dedication.

It is now officially confirmed that men and women are not equal! But before the hardened male chauvinists rejoice and the feminists train their guns at males, women are superior, at least in one aspect! According to psychology experts, females learn to talk and use sentences earlier, and learn to read more quickly than males. Unfortunately, males have a smaller vocabulary than females at maturity.
Well, who cares about that? But something to chew up on is that though most of keep talking of equality between men and women it actually does not happen. There are many women organization that strive for this. I would say that the situation has gotten better than the few past decades.

I read this interesting piece of article which many of us might not have read. Just read on…
“The day when India woke up to freedom back in 1947 was a day of great celebration. A country got rid of her foreign yoke and became a sovereign nation; she celebrated her sovereignty on this day – the triumph of numerous martyred souls. It was a day of fulfillment; it was the day of a new beginning, a birth of a nation.
On the stroke of midnight, a country came into life again as the British handed over the governance of India to the Indian leaders. The long and difficult struggle had borne fruit at last, though the happiness was marred by the fact that the country was divided into India and Pakistan and the violent communal riots had left the countries permanently scarred.
That was the price that India paid for her dearly bought freedom. The British government declared the country independent and left for its own shores. On the 15th of August, 1947, India became completely independent. It was on this historic date that Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime Minister of India, unfurled the Indian tricolor on the ramparts the magnificent Red Fort, symbolically marking the end of the British colonial rule.
“At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new India discovers herself again.”
- Jawaharlal Nehru
(On Indian Independence Day, 1947)

Facts
The jellyfish is one of the oldest surviving creatures in the world. It has been around for over 600 million years and is found in all the oceans. Some even live in freshwater lakes. The jellyfish is not really a fish. It is related to corals and sea anemones. Its body is composed of 95 per cent water, and is totally transparent. This helps jellyfishes to remain unseen in the oceans. They are extremely fragile beings. They have no head, brain, heart, eyes, ears or bones. They do have a mouth to eat food. The net of tentacles hanging from their bell-shaped body is lined with poisonous stinging cells. Tiny harpoons in these stinging cells inject venom into the victims and paralyze them.
Kids would have watched the Jelly fishes in Finding Nemo movie, zoos, etc.

For all those that are working and struggling to make a work-life balance, you must read on.. I got this from my colleague and felt it to be an eye opener.
Is work-life balance a gender specific issue? Why do women find it more challenging?
Well, wouldn’t you if you were managing people at work, deadlines, targets, meetings, as well as managing the vagaries of home life like electricity bills, children, groceries, meals and homework?
My organization recently conducted a series of training workshops on work-life balance with women employees of a leading automobile group and a leading company in the real estate sector.
During the workshops, many women confessed that while they are doing justice to their various roles as wife, mother, executive, manager etc, there came a point when their individual identity was lost.
The fact is simple. There is simply no ‘me time’. And women are loathing to express their feelings and concerns for fear of disturbing the peace. So they keep it all to themselves, which is not healthy.

Elephants have four teeth and two “tusks.” Tusks are long horn-like parts that come out of the sides of their mouths. These tusks grow about seven inches a year, and can get up to twenty feet long! The tusks are made of ivory, which is very valuable.
Generally the female elephants will not have tusks and only the male has them. Many elephants are poached just for their ivory and hence they are reducing drastically in numbers. This is something that worries me a lot. The future generations should be able to see these elephants in real instead of learning them through photos. The government needs to take stringent action and punish the poachers.
